Commencing in 2009, Dalyellup College offered a Specialised Cricket Program for students in Year 8. The program has grown annually and is now available for male and female students from Year 7 through to Year 12.

Lower School Program

Students will be involved in cricket studies for 4 periods per week. Areas of focus include the following:

  • Batting, bowling and fielding skills development
  • History and etiquette of cricket
  • Fitness training
  • Diet and lifestyle development
  • Umpiring / Scoring
  • Resiliency and mental skills
  • Team building activities
  • Training camps
  • Captaincy
  • Match strategies

Senior School Program

At Dalyellup College, senior school students in the Specialist Cricket program have the opportunity to continue their interest in cricket by undertaking a Certificate I Sports Coaching. This involves Structured Workplace Learning where students develop skills in a variety of work placements including the WACA, sports retail, turf management, sports administration and venue management.

This qualification is part of the Sport Industry Training Package. It facilitates the development of the following knowledge and skills such as observing athlete’s performances to determine the level of instruction required; implementing sports first aid procedures and applying sports first aid; carrying out after competition review of strategy and performance; undertaking related administrative tasks such as booking venues, budgeting and arranging entry into competitions and recruiting players; plus more.
