AMPt (Advanced Music Performance and Training Program)

Lower School Program Years 7-9
Students will be involved in three different types
of music class:

  • Class music for 2 periods/hours per week
  • Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS)
    lessons (Woodwind, Brass, Percussion and Guitar) one half hour group lesson per week. Keyboard students are most welcome but must be attending professional lessons outside of school.
  • Ensemble rehearsals in either Junior or Senior Concert Band, Guitar ensemble or another small ensemble.

The AMPt Program covers:

  • Class music Contemporary music
    understanding, composition and performance; Music literacy (reading and writing notation, TAB and chords) Aural skills and music appreciation; General keyboard and guitar performance skills
  • IMSS: Specialist skills and techniques on their chosen instrument ; Improvisation; Music notation reading and interpretation
  • Ensemble Rehearsal Working within an
    ensemble; Technical aspects of performance;
    Communication and collaboration skills;
    Performance techniques and performing to live audiences

Student Expectations
All students involved in the Music Extension
Program must maintain acceptable standards of
behaviour, respect for others and demonstrate a
solid work ethic. They are also expected to attend
Concert Band rehearsals and performances and
regular instrumental lessons

Senior School Program Years 10-12
In the context of the senior school program,
students can to achieve a Certificate II in Music
Industry in Year 10 and then, in Year 11 and 12,
complete a two-year course of study to achieve
their Certificate III in Music Industry (performance).
These Certificate courses build students’ confidence and skills to be successful in the Music Industry and increases their knowledge of the employment opportunities in this sector. Previous students have successfully applied to the Western
Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and the University of Western Australia (UWA) to extend their skills developed at Dalyellup College.

Incursions, Excursions and Performances
Students will be given the opportunity to participate
in many incursions and excursions through the Music
Extension program designed to increase their
confidence and skills in music, including:

  • hands-on incursions where they will learn
    industry level skills from industry professionals.
  • professional theatre performances
    throughout the year including an annual
    excursion to either His Majesty’s Theatre or
    Crown Theatre to view a major musical show.
  • participation in the Concert Band, which
    performs in events such as school assemblies, mid and end of year concerts, primary school tours, the Queen’s Cup Festival, Perth Band Festival and Carols in the Park.

Band Ensemble Fee $40.00**
